On March 23, JISCO ALPART held a farewell ceremony at Jamaica House for 52 Jamaican graduates sponsored to go to China for training. Present at the ceremony were the most honourable Prime Minister Andrew Holness, honourable Miniter of Transport and Mining Michael Henry, Mr. Fan Jianghong, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of Chinese Embassy , Mr Liu Wanxiang, Chairman of JISCO ALPART.
Addressing the ceremony, Counsellor Fan expressed his congratulations to the graduates. He commended that the Chinese Government has been providing various kinds of training programs and scholarships for Jamaicans over the past years, aiming at technology transfer and talent exchange between the two countries, as well as great support for the development of Jamaica. He hoped that those graduates could learn well in China and make contributions to the socio-economic development of their homeland and the deepening of the friendship between China and Jamaica.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness thanked the Chinese Government and JISCO ALPART for this generous sponsorship which has been seen as an important link to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen friendship between the two countries. He mentioned that with increasing economic cooperation between China and Jamaica, the cultural exchange between the two countries is going from strength to strength. He hoped the graduates to cherish the valuable opportunities to improve technical skills and experience Chinese culture, devoting themselves to Jamaica’s construction.
This trip is a one-year Chinese language and engineering training for those 52 graduates selected from UWI, UTEC and CMU. They will start for China at the end of March.
